The Personal Information that I collect is used for providing and improving the website and any future offerings. I will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.
Who I am
My legal name is Marie Efromson (also ‘I’, ‘me’, ‘myself’), and I am a sole proprietor of the business run in my name. My website address is https://efromson.com (henceforth ‘this site’ or ‘this website’). This is a site built for myself as a professional hub for information and any published content I may have now or in the future. Everything posted on this site is the intellectual property of Marie Efromson, excluding cited sources or visitors’ comments.
What personal data I collect and why I collect it
Log Data
Whenever you visit this site, I collect information that your browser sends to me that is called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser version, pages of the site that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, and other statistics. This data is only for the purposes of running and improving the website, and aside from being piped through Google Analytics (see below), it will not be used in any other way.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
If you use a WordPress.com, Twitter, Facebook, or Google account to comment, you will have to sign into that service and you are subject to any cookies that service may use. Their respective policies are available as follows: WordPress.com (Automattic) Privacy Policy, Twitter Privacy Policy, Facebook Privacy Policy, and Google Privacy Policy.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Contact Forms
Contact forms are used to generate email sent directly to me. A log of this email is saved for reference purposes only. The information is not stored after the email is generated, and the contact information will be used by me only to respond to the message, as I would do any other email.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on my site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor had visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Analytics
I use cookies to analyze user activity in order to improve this site. I can use such analysis to gain insights about how to improve the functionality and user experience of the site. This data will be run through Google Analytics.
Who I share your data with
I use SiteLock to scan my site (including visitor comments) for malware. I use CodeGuard to backup my site. Backups may contain any data saved by the site in any form. I use Google Analytics to track site usage and statistics so that I can improve the site. Click here for how Google uses information from sites or apps that use their services.
How long I retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. Information entered into forms is saved as specified for that form, including saving to outside applications such as email providers and mailing list subscription services. Form data is not saved on this site, but outside applications may retain it for the purposes it was provided.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I have about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. This also does not include email sent via the contact form; once those are sent, they are treated as any other email, and will be archived in my email the same as I would any email I receive directly.
Where I send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Third-party services are required to keep any data sent to them confidential and are not allowed to use it for any purposes other than the services they render.
Your Contact Information
Any contact information entered on this site will be used for the express purposes detailed at the point of entry. Contact forms will be used to contact me by email. Mailing list sign-ups will be saved to my mailing list until you click the ‘unsubscribe’ link in one of my emails.
