Plot Bunnies

“Ideas are like rabbits. You get a couple and learn how to handle them, and pretty soon you have a dozen.”

John Steinbeck

My personal blog is called Plot Bunny Whack-a-mole, which for the time being will continue to be a second, separate site. (I will likely merge the two at some point.) Any plot bunnies I happen to catch will be posted over there, so I wanted to make it easy to find any new short stories and updates I’ve posted.

I hope you enjoy some fun prompt writing. Thank you for reading, and watch out for the plot bunnies. They’re spawning left and right and I warn you… they bite.

  • Will had lost track of time, staring out the office window thinking, until the crumpled ball of paper hit him in the face. “What the hell?” His officemate, Scott, burst out laughing. “That was the third time I called you. What’s with you today? No—it’s not just today. You’ve been acting odd all week.” Mentally, … Continue reading Beauty at the Beach →
  • How is it seriously July right now? I know I’ve been hiding from the heat wave, but I still knew the date. I guess I hadn’t quite processed that the 30th of June is followed by the 1st of July? (As dumb as that sounds, it’s a fact as I started this post I really … Continue reading Currently →
  • I don’t know where the last month went. Seriously. I make snide comments about time flying all the time, but this time I really don’t know where it went. It’s JUNE! Can you believe it? I remember writing the Currently for May, and then this week. There’s just a blank in between. Either this is … Continue reading Currently / Blog Hiatus →
  • Spring is finally here! Sure, it started back in March just about on time, but the weather wasn’t reliably nice until very recently, at least around here. I can’t begin to express how much of a difference the sunny days and not-freezing weather makes on everything I do. Motivation and inspiration both get a big … Continue reading Currently / Blog Hiatus →
  • I’ll be on hiatus for a couple months. I should be back by June, but definitely by July. I need to take a break from weekly posting for my sanity—whatever shreds of it might remain. I’ll see you in a couple months!  Camp NaNoWriMo is now! My professional blog (efromson.com) has a list of my … Continue reading Currently / Blog Hiatus →

  • This got very long, very quickly. It’s twenty words shy of 13,000 words, so consider this fair warning. I rambled, but I hope you enjoy this urban fantasy inspired by some Greek myths instead of the gothic noir that’s so common. Just as he was finally getting off work Friday and on his way to … Continue reading The Hunter and the Seer →
  • I’ve had a rough month. It’s sad that I’m tempted to add “as usual”, but it really has been rough for several months, December being rock bottom. It’s taken me most of January to even write anything again, and I’m still losing a lot of time to engaging books because I can’t make myself care … Continue reading Currently →
  • Some time ago I started a short story as a prequel to a game I am running. After the first part, which was mostly exploratory, I proceeded to write five more journal entries from Rhydderck’s point of view (#2, #3, #4, #5, and #6). This is part seven of my epistolary tale! In his last … Continue reading Rhydderck’s Journal #7 →
  • This got long, so only this first part is complete. Hopefully I’ll get the rest done soon! Enjoy. Sara watched in silence as the apartment building burned, taking with it everything but the thin nightdress she wore beneath her borrowed blanket. She had vacated the ambulance in favor of her landlord’s daughter, who had been … Continue reading Danger Magnet, part 1 →
